With a successful year under our belt in 2022 it is with great excitement that we share our plan for the Game Dev Fund in 2023. Last year, we set a goal to raise $25,000 and were pleased to have exceeded that goal. This year we are ‘going big or going home’ and looking to raise $100,000. We know we can! It is because of YOU that we can set and meet our goals, and we are grateful for your generous giving. Your donation is tax deductible and will go towards developing people, not products. Some folks look at their giving to the Game Dev Fund as a portion of their tithe or regular giving, we would love your ongoing support of this mission.

Money will go to boosting 10 projects with either:

  • Acorn Labs Grant - Seed cash for developers that need help getting started or finishing strong. 
  • Consultation - We pay our experts to train, critique, and work for developers that need a specific assist but can't otherwise afford the rates of industry masters.

And also fund:

  • Annual Imladris event - 70 people chosen through prayer to gather and commune and plan cultural change.

What We're All About

Humans are social creatures: curious and hungry for adventure, eager to experience and impact the world, actively seeking tall tales and lost legends. For two years our society has had limited time outside of the home. Now more than ever, in the age of "contactless delivery" and "telecommuting," we crave community and discovery. We long for an escape into a fantasy world of exploration and experimentation. And where do we turn? The same place we've turned to for thousands of years: stories.

Stories have changed quite a lot over the centuries. We've gone from oral tradition to music to movies and after a long series of technological advancements, arrived at interactive digital mediums like video games and the virtual reality "meta-verse."  But at their core, it's all driven by this core programming in us to do, create, and experience. It's been said that stories are a way to reveal the truth without defining it. It's been said that a well-crafted story can save you from death for 1001 Arabian Nights. It's been said that stories will change the world.

Soma SoulWorks is founded on the belief that in "telling the right story" we can make a meaningful difference. Once, Christians led the charge of technical skill and trade mastery and yet today Christian products are synonymous with "shlocky cash grabs." Our mission is to reclaim the former glory of creative excellence and seat God once again on the throne of the arts.
